Our talented clinical teams can serve as your attending physicians and nurse practitioners, and we will ensure our services align with your company vision.

Christy Jeffcoat, Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Christy Jeffcoat serves as President/CEO at Gateway Medical, where she combines her 16 years experience in healthcare management with her love of business analytics. She has held a variety of roles in healthcare, including operational management and marketing. Christy sits on several boards of charitable organizations and is active in community outreach programs. She has demonstrated a long history of leadership, which has positioned Gateway Medical for future growth. Christy graduated University of South Carolina in 2001 with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and a minor in government and social work.
John Paul "J.P." Short, Medical Director (DO)
John Paul "J.P." Short, DO, board certified in emergency medicine, serves as Medical Director and patient care physician with over 20 years of experience. Dr. Short, originally from West Virginia, is a graduate of Marshall University and completed medical school at the West Virginia School of Medicine in 2001. Additionally, Dr. Short also served as a physician in the U.S. Army Reserves from 2001 until 2013.
Jessica Coleman, Practice Manager (MHA)
Jessica earned a Bachelors in Finance and Human Resource Management from the University of South Carolina's Darla Moore School of Business in 2016, then obtained her Masters in Healthcare Administration from MUSC in 2019. In 2020, Jessica graduated from Lexington Medical's fellowship program with a focus primarily on ambulatory care management. Her experience includes financial management, physician practice management, revenue cycle, process improvement, as well as interprofessional team collaboration.
Angie Thomas, Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C)
Angela "Angie" Thomas, FNP-C, AGNP, graduated in 2017 from the University of South Alabama with Family Nurse Practitioner and Adult/Geriatric Acute Nurse Practitioner certifications. Angie has worked in outpatient orthopedics and as an inpatient hospitalist and critical care Nurse Practitioner. Angela is well-versed in assisted living facility regulations and has been a great asset to Gateway.
Julie Clarke, Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C)
Julie has experience working in urgent care, family medicine, geriatrics and palliative care. She believes strongly that being a good listener is the best skill a healthcare provider can possess. Through hard work and diligent study, she takes pride in positively impacting the well-being of patients in the community. Julie spends her off-time living in the country with her family and many animals. Eating healthy, exercising daily and sleeping well helps her lead a very happy life.
